I just received my Acrylic Wall Decor for my studio, I LOVE it! I tend to gravitate to the more modern side so these acrylic prints with there “museum” or “gallery” mount.  (the aluminum studs) are right up my alley.

From box to wall it only took me five short minutes to hang on my wall, anyone can do it. The “museum” or “gallery” mounts are not only impressive they are easy to install.

There are several templates available to use right away or you can have you new custom wedsite designed to express your unique creativity. I am having my new site being designed right now by Wolf Snap Designs which will be online right around Pictage Partner Con in November. Wait until you see my new site, I am super excited to share it with all of you.

The Acrylic panels are manufactured specifically for this purpose.  The combination of extremely clear and flawless elements and ultra smooth (transparent) finish sets these materials apart from more common Acrylic materials.  The material is extremely hard and is therefore difficult to scratch.  (but not impossible).  The edges are flame polished (melted if you will), to a smooth, safe, finish.
The print affixed to the acrylic panel is not a silver halide photographic print.  It is a giclee’ print quite similar to a fine art print.  (just on different paper).  As you are probably already aware, this process yields a print that carries intense colors, blacks and contrasts and this is responsible for some of the increase in detail that you can see in the print.

The acrylic serves two purposes.  I guess you could say it’s not just a pretty face.  The first purpose is obvious.  Sex appeal.  This is a very cool way to package a keepsake.  The second purpose may also be obvious to photographers, but I’m finding that this isn’t necessarily the case.  In much the same fashion as a glass globe intensifies the output of a candle the acrylic actually intensifies the brightness of the print.  The clear surface gathers light.  This is one of the reasons why you really can’t take your eyes off of your new acrylic.  That effect almost makes you want to study every detail in greater degrees.  Pretty cool huh?

Additionally, over the next couple of weeks a separate product called a “block” will come out.  That product is a nice gift product and is essentially a free standing mount to a 5X7 print.  We expect photographers will do really well on this product for the holidays.

The Acrylic you received has a “museum” or “gallery” mount.  (the aluminum studs).  The other hanging option will be a recessed standout frame.  Again, I suspect that most photographers will prefer the museum mount due to its look and feel.

Other products in the Gallery Products Line include Bamboo Prints.  This novel process actually allows for the printing of the photograph, again in a giclee process, directly on the Bamboo surface.  These will not work for just any image and will only be available directly to photographers, but the product itself is an extremely tactile product.  (I find it fascinating that people can’t keep their hands off of them).  These come with a recessed stand off mount for hanging and are comparable in price to the Acrylics.  (though the size range is smaller).  Finally,  we will be offering Fine Art prints on Velvet and Exhibition Fiber papers.  These will be available to photographers framed and unframed.

I just purchased this new WordPress Plugin from intothedarkroom so I thought I would try it out by posting a wedding I shot In April in New York City at Gotham Hall. Let me know if you like it…

So I Tivo’d (I love how Tivo’d is now a verb in our vocabulary) Jimmy Fallon the other night because one of my favorite country singes Blake Shelton was a guest on his show. I have never had a favorite country singer ever, but since I was asked to photograph his wedding I have become a Blake Shelton Fan. I really do like him as he is funny as sh*t and really that’s why I wanted to tune in cause I wanted to good laugh.

So anyway, as I was watching to my surprise Jimmy busted out a picture that I had taken from Blake & Miranda’s Wedding. Kinda funny to see your work on a late night talk show, but never the less very cool! The clip is funny so I thought I would share.

As I always do, I have a camera with me, July 4th is no exception. Went to our local park to watch the firework show and on this eve there was a little moon showing her young face in the night sky.  The park was very crowed but I managed to squeeze my way into a position where I could capture both the moon and the colorful awe of the show. I hope you like….. Maybe not the best firework images ever shot, but never the less unique.

I recently finished directing and shooting my first music video “Shandaliqua” by Hans Eberbach off of his new solo album “Up is The Only Way Out”. (available on iTunes) Hans has an amazing voice and sounds a little bit like Ben Harper and Martin Sexton, in my laymen’s opinion, and is the former front man of the band Sweet Vine.

The story told in the video is about a young girl who is struggling to make ends meet. She has a dual life and is fighting to make something of herself, a subject matter that probably hits home for a lot of young women today. I wanted to show that anything is possible if we work hard enough. We are all capable of changing our situations; we do not have to be victims of our circumstances if we fight and work hard. We are all capable of turning poison into medicine. If we do not give up, we can accomplish anything. As Ghandi once said, “Become the change you wish to see.” Of course there is a photographer in my video, who is intrigued by Shandi and helps to facilitate her rise from desperation to dignity.

Shooting this music video was such a great experience for me. Shooting video is not that much different from shooting stills. It’s photography that moves, as opposed to capturing still moments one-at-time. You still have to expose it properly, light it, and tell a story with your captures.  I did find telling a story in 3:20 in the case of “Shandaliqua” to be a bit of a challenge. I knew my biggest problem while we were shooting was going to be that the song wasn’t long enough, because the footage I was getting was just incredible.  I joked with Hans and told him he was going to have to write a new verse to the song so I had more time.

I started shooting video as soon as Canon released the 5D Mark II about three years ago and quickly started singing the praises of video myself. Today, I enjoy sharing my knowledge though my workshops and speaking engagements with my fellow photographers who are also interested in what opportunities video can bring. Video has opened up a whole new creative flow for me. I am am so appreciative everyday that I get to create imagery as a visual artist.

Everything was shot on location April 17th – 19th 20011, in Sacramento where you can find Hans Eberbach singing at some of Sacramento’s hottest night spots.  Hans also fronts a great funk, get up and dance your ass off band, called the Nibblers who are also taking Sacramento by storm. The Nibblers have been in the studio recording an album which is due for release Memorial day weekend 2011.

I learned a lot shooting and directing Shandaliqua and look forward to taking that knowledge into the future as I continue to shoot, produce and direct more projects in the coming months and years. I already have a few fun things lined up and can’t wait to sing my own two syllable song, ”ACTION!”.  I have always had a dream tucked away in the back of my head to win an Academy Award someday. I have to say now that I have made this leap, it doesn’t seem as far away as it once did.  I am a firm believer that you can do anything you want in life, you just have to keep putting one foot in front of the other and keep taking steps towards your goals. One day you might look down and see yellow bricks below your feet.
